Dog’s day out: Perth’s top dog-friendly events this Autumn

Summer may have come to an end, but it seems the fun for Perth’s paw-rents and pooches has only just begun. If you’re looking for a way to treat your furry plus one this Autumn, these pet-loving events will make for the perfect day out with your doggo.

American Express Openair Cinema, Perth

American Express Openair Cinema, Perth

Dog-friendly American Express Openair Cinema

March - 14th April, East Perth

Back by popular demand, the American Express Openair Cinema has returned to East Perth for another year this Autumn, and will be providing Perth punters and their pooches with a program jam-packed full of box-office hits and family-friendly classics across March and April. Glass, Aquaman and A Star is Born are amongst some of the new releases on the highly-anticipated list of flicks, but be sure to put A Dog’s Way Home on the itinerary if you’re heading down with your furry friend in tow.

Sandy Paws - A Dog’s Day Out

14th April, Leeman’s Landing

If you’ve missed out on their previous dog-friendly events, Empire Events Management will be hosting their final Sandy Paws of the season on April 14th at Leeman’s Landing. In full dedication to doggos, attendees and their pooches will get the chance to run around with fellow fur-friends at Two Rocks Dog Beach before enjoying a range of pup-friendly market stalls and dedicated dog services (we hear they have dog washes at $10 per pop). We recommend stopping by the bone bar afterwards for a hydration top-up and a cheeky post-walk ice-cream!

Scarborough Sunset Markets

Every Thursday until 25th April

If you didn’t get the memo over the summer, there’s still a whole month left to take your furry friend on a trip to the Scarborough Sunset Markets. Spanning all the way from Scarborough Square down to the Scarborough Beach Amphitheatre, this year’s markets bring together over 70 food vendors and pop-up stalls showcasing some of the finest food and artistic creations Perth has to offer, accompanied in true Scarborough style by live entertainment, free beach games and a highly competitive sandcastle challenge. What better way to spend a Thursday evening than with sand under your feet, the sunset as your backdrop and your furry friend by your side!

Dogs for diabetes

Sunday 7th April,  Trinity College, East Perth

For a dog’s day out with an extra special cause, be sure to take your furry pal down to Trinity College on 7th April in support of Dogs for Diabetes. Sponsored by RAC WA, the family-friendly event kicks off at 9:30 am with a 5km walk around Swan River before returning to Trinity College for a host of canine-centred activities. Dog-friendly market stalls, locally-made treats and a paw-pose built agility course are some of the pup-friendly perks on offer, with a dedicated kids activity zone for children of the non-furry variety. The event is $25 per doggo but completely free for their hooman entourage, with the proceeds helping to raise money for the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre.

WA Pet Project’s PetFest

Suday 14th April, Woodville Reserve, North Perth

Pet-based rescue and rehoming service, WA Pet Project, will be hosting the return of their inaugural PetFest on Sunday 14th April, and have promised this year’s event is set to be even bigger and better than before. With a range of pup-friendly stalls, a sensory garden for doggos and an entourage of mouth-watering food trucks for hungry humans, this is the perfect chance to bond with fellow pet-lovers whilst your pooch makes some furry friends of their own.

Woof at Whiteman Park

May 26th

Running alongside the popular Made-It Markets, Woof at Whiteman Park will see a host of local pet-friendly vendors taking over the popular dog spot to provide Perth’s pooches with a dedicated market experience of their own. Head down with your furry pal to meet some of WA’s finest fur-friendly makers, but don’t forget to check out some paw-ducts for yourself whilst you’re there!
