Dog-friendly events in Perth you won’t want to miss this spring

And luckily for local pet owners, Perth never seems short of things to do with your pooch. If you’re out and about with your pup this spring, here are five dog-friendly events you won’t want to miss!
Doggie’s Day Out - Whiteman Park
When: 14th October
For those looking to make their dog-friendly date into a doggie day trip, the inaugural Doggie’s Day Out will be returning to Whiteman Park on Sunday 14th October in celebration of Perth’s canine community. Taking place at Mussel Pool West, the event will be jam-packed full of pup-loving stallholders showcasing local pet businesses, fur-friendly products and (for those four-legged friends in need of a little TLC) puppy pamperers! As well as top tips from local dog care organisations, furry friends will get the chance to take part in an adventure course, games and and a competition for Best Dressed Doggo….get ready to put your best paw forward!
PUPS on SUPS - Bassendean
When: Sundays 8am-12pm
For adventure-loving pooches, local stand-up paddle boarding company SUP Tonic Australia have created a unique way for owners and their pooches to get their fitness fix on a doggie date of a different variety. PUPs on SUPS combines stand-up paddle boarding with a good old puppy playdate, and takes place every Sunday from 8am to 12pm at Sandy Beach Reserve Bassendean. The activity gives owners and their four-legged friends the paw-fect chance to paddle out and view the stunning scenery of the Swan River whilst enjoying some quality bonding time. If your pooch is still a pup in training, PUPS on SUPS will be running a five-week obedience program from 22nd October to teach your pooch basic obedience skills whilst you master the art of stand-up paddle boarding.
Dog’s Breakfast 2018 - Madeley
When: 21st October
For early morning risers, the City’s of Wanneroo’s Dog’s Breakfast is back in Perth by popular demand on 21st October. Kicking off at 9am, the event includes a range of free activities, workshops and giveaways for owners and their furry friends. If your pup is a bit of a poser, you’ll be able to snap some of your favourite shots in the event’s fur-friendly photobooth before your pooch gets the chance to strut their stuff during the main stage competitions. As promised by the name, the event will include plenty of local food vendors (fur-friendly and otherwise) to keep those tails and tongues wagging. And don’t forget to stop by for a free vet check to ensure your furry friend is fit and healthy!
Pawsome Day Out - Yokine Reserve
When: 28th October
For pet owners seeking a fun-filled day out with all the family (fur-friends and all), the City of Stirling’s Paw-some Day Out will be taking place on Sunday 28th October at Yokine Reserve. Complete with local pooch products, children’s entertainment and a pup-friendly obstacle course, the event is enough to keep your kids (furbabies included) entertained for hours. Hot tip - make sure you get in quick because free microchipping will be on offer for the first 20 doggos in attendance!
Perth Pet Expo - Claremont Showground
When: 17-18th November
Back in Perth for the fifth year running, the Perth Pet Expo will be taking over Claremont Showground on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th November. Open to animal lovers of all ages (and their four-legged friends, of course), the event is set to be a great celebration of Perth’s fur-friendly community. With guest appearances from local pet experts, dog demonstrations and some of the latest pet-friendly products on offer, it’s the paw-fect chance to enjoy some family fun while your pooch gets to bond with some friends of their own.
