Doggie dining: the best dog-friendly cafés in Perth

If there’s one thing we do right in Perth, it’s caffeine and cake. As a city of brunch addicts, our humble home isn’t short of excellent cafés and breakfast venues, and given our love for the four-legged kind, it was only a matter of time before our favourite cafés began opening their doors to our favourite breakfast dates! For those of you who enjoy sharing your morning coffee fix with your canine companion, here are Pooky & Boo’s top picks for dog-friendly cafés in Perth.

slate dog-friendly café Perth

Slate Café, Swan Valley

If you’re planning a city escape to Swan Valley with your four-legged friend, this paw-friendly venue is a must on the itinerary. As well as a mouth-watering menu and a gorgeous interior decorated with upcycled furniture, Slate offers an enclosed outdoor area for your fur babies to roam free whilst you tuck into your coffee and cake. For something different to do with your pooch, the café runs breed-specific doggie playdates every Saturday so your pup can enjoy their big day out surrounded by fellow furry friends.

Tradewinds Hotel, East Fremantle

If you’re looking to treat your furry pal to a weekend brunch date, our expert tasters (four-legged, of course) recommend checking out the ‘Dog’s Breakfast’ at Tradewinds Hotel in East Fremantle. The venue runs a five course ‘dogustation’ menu every Sunday from 7-11am, featuring a famous Doggie Dukkah and tasting board from local treat markers. Slobberlicious. Enjoy alongside your own a la carte menu, with stunning views of the Swan River providing the perfect backdrop for your doggie date!

Holly Raye’s, Bassendean

This cute little café located in Bassendean is a welcome addition for style-loving pet owners in Perth. With a modern, industrial-style interior and a cake selection to die for, Holly Raye’s is the perfect place to enjoy a morning treat with your pooch. And we mean this literally - healthy and homemade dog treats are available for your pup at the counter so they can indulge in the fun too. You won’t miss Holly Raye’s from the exterior - just look out for the big, colourful mural of the owner’s dog, Angus!

Burns Beach Café, Iluka

If you’re after some beachside views with your breakfast, Burns Beach Café is a great location to take your pooch for a morning treat followed by  a waterfront walk. Located ten minutes out from Joondalup, the café offers a unique menu for both dogs and their human companions. Their Doggy Num Yum’s à la carte menu is sure to be a hit with your pooch, and their alfresco areas will provide your pup with some much-needed shade during Perth’s summer months.

BOO Espresso, Northbridge

You’ve probably heard of a babycino, but what about a puppycino? This small, dog-friendly café in Northbridge (it literally operates from a window) is catering to our furry friends with just that - a milk-based treat for dogs. With a dog-friendly park located directly opposite, you can pick up your coffee just in time for your puppy playdate.

Little Stove, Bicton

For those of you located south of the river, Little Stove in Bicton is the paw-fect place to hang out with your pooch over breakfast or lunch. The café itself is fitted out with quirky, antique-style furniture, and there’s plenty of outdoor seating for you and your furry friend. With water bowls at the ready and tasty treats for your pup at the counter, this is a great place to spoil your beloved canine companion.
